LaFave Artist Alliance was created to provide essential services to today’s recording artists. Gone are the days of well-staffed label teams, big recording budgets, and excellent show guarantees. Most musicians and recording artists today act as their own manager, booking agent, studio engineer, label services, radio promoter, bio writer, publicist, and bus driver. But an artist is at their best when they are creating, not administrating.
Jesse LaFave is a musician at his core. He understands the struggle, the thought process, the highs and lows, and a creative person’s need to always have an outlet. He also thinks like a business person and enjoys building and watching things grow! In addition to his heart for artists and love of business, his life has always been 24/7 music. This endeavor is a wonderful and productive intersection of these passions.
Jesse has played guitar since the age of 10 and grew up immersed in music from an early age, as his uncle was well-respected Austin musician/singer/songwriter Jimmy LaFave. After graduating college in Oklahoma with a Public Relations degree, he moved to Nashville to pursue music in 2004.
After a 4 year stint with the regional band Clemency, LaFave joined the touring group Jackson Waters in 2005 and subsequently signed a major label record deal and publishing deal with Word/Warner Records. After several years of touring and TV song placements, the band went in different directions in 2008.
LaFave crossed over to the mainstream county music scene in Nashville and landed a lead guitar position with Broken Bow Records recording artist, James Wesley, who has been a mainstay in Top 20 Country Radio. In addition to playing gigs across the country, LaFave began advancing shows and production, in addition to handling all touring logistics of a 6-man crew and bus. The group has opened for many of today’s top country acts.
In 2014, LaFave had the opportunity to relocate to Austin, TX, and work in the office of respected niche label Music Road Records, which is home to many Folk/Americana artists. LaFave learned the entire album release process including studio recording, radio promo, setting up all back-end sites, copyrights, publishing, mechanical royalties, tour press and promo, and digital sales, as well as managing the entire catalog inventory, website, and all social media assets.
After the passing of Austin music icon Jimmy LaFave in May 2017, Jesse stepped up to take over the managerial duties of renowned Austin studio Cedar Creek Recording. Home to many great Texas and national albums including the Dixie Chicks, Uncle Tupelo, Kris Kristofferson, Pat Green, Randy Rogers Band and many others, Jesse now handles booking and marketing for the studio.
Now, having experience in live touring, label functions, releasing albums, logistics, digital music platforms, advancing shows, the recording process, and many other industry pieces, and managing a legendary studio, LaFave Artist Alliance is his way to put them all together to help other artists achieve their goals in this uncertain, new music climate.
